About us

Somerell administers private trust companies in Wyoming. It is not a trust company or a bank. It does not act as trustee or in any other fiduciary capacity, and does not offer to. It is not chartered or supervised by the Wyoming Division of Banking. Nothing on this site is legal, tax or investment advice.

We administer private trust companies, and we will tell you, without dressing it up, what a well-kept company's records and calendar look like. Your private trust company is the trustee, and the board is the group that decides. We are not the trustee, and you should not hire us because you want a new investment adviser, a new accountant, or a new lawyer. If those seats are already filled, we work with the people in them.

The people here have backgrounds in trust administration, accounting, and law. Somerell is not a law firm and it is not an accounting firm. You meet them when an engagement starts, rather than on this page, because we don't publish names here.

The company we spend the most time on is the unregulated private trust company, which Wyoming calls a private family trust company, and we also administer the regulated, chartered kind. The work is in Wyoming.

We are not a trust company, and we do not act as trustee or in any other fiduciary capacity, nor do we want to. We administer your family's private trust company, and that is the whole of the work.

Beside the advisers you have

Counsel drafts, the accountant prepares the returns, and the investment adviser, where the instrument names one, directs the investments. The custodian holds the accounts in your company's name. What we do is prepare, record, keep, reconcile, and be the person those advisers can call when they need something from the file. We do not take their seats.

If you are the lawyer, the planner, the family office, or the accountant, the boundary is written out on its own page, including the case where a family office is already doing this work and should keep doing it.
